China Tour and Summer 2025 Schedule

Charlotte Hu: China Tour and Summer Performances

Dear Friends,

With summer underway, I hope this message finds you in good spirits and surrounded by joy.

I have just wrapped up my tour of China and wanted to reflect on this incredible 23-day journey from Shenzhen to Beijing. The tour featured 5 recitals, 11 master classes, and 5 lectures across 5 cities in the north and south of China.

In Guangzhou, the pouring rain did not deter the beautiful atmosphere of musical exchange at all. I was so pleased to be hosted by the Guangzhou Opera House (pictured above, left), Xinghai Conservatory of Music, and Steinway House (pictured above, right) for lectures and masterclasses centered around Liszt.

My first week of June was spent in Shenzhen with the Vanke Meisha Academy, Shenzhen Steinway Garden (pictured above, left), Steinway House, and Shenzhen Art School. It was such a pleasure to speak with these dedicated students, teachers, and musicians. My return to Shenzhen was capped off beautifully with a recital in the iconic Shenzhen Concert Hall (pictured above, right).

I spent a short two days in Urumqi sharing Liszt with the next generation of musicians and performing in Urumqi Concert Hall.

The penultimate stop in my China tour was spent in Beijing with students China Conservatory of Music. I rounded out the Beijing leg of tour with a thrilling evening at the National Grand Theater (pictured above), also known as the National Centre for the Performing Arts, the largest theatre complex in Asia. We finished the tour with a visit to Hangzhou Xizi Concert Hall. I feel extremely grateful to have shared so many meaningful experiences and musical moments across the past month.

This past weekend, I was honored to join Klaviersommer Music Festival for two performances of Debussy, Granados and Liszt in Bavaria and Bayern, Germany. My Bayern Klaviersommer performance was described as “individually shaped with highly impressive energy and intensity” by KultKomplott’s Klaus Mohr. Next up this week, I fly to Hong Kong for the Campus of Creativity Inaugural Summer Music Festival. On July 23rd, I am thrilled to be joining the Collegium Musicum Hong Kong led by conductor Johnny Poon in Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos, K. 242 and Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 at the Hong Kong Cultural Center, the most prestigious venue in Hong Kong.

Then, I return to the United States for my PYPA Piano Festival, the New England Festival at Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music, and the 2025 International Keyboard Odyssiad® & Festival in Colorado.

I’m already looking forward to my 2025-2026 season and many more meaningful performances with all of you. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Wishing you happy summer days!

Sincerely yours,

Charlotte ♥️
